Mimi and Jonas live in Colorado now, but they used to live on Maui a few years ago, where I met Mimi through mutual friends. When she told me they were coming back to visit and asked if I would take engagement photos of her and Jonas, I was so excited.
They are such an adventurous and creative couple. Together, they lead multi-day treks in the mountains with their company Blue Sky Trekking & Travel and make amazing art inspired by the outdoors called Blue Sky Lines.
Knowing they are so connected to nature, the location had to be filled with natural beauty. We chose a spot with both mountain and water, so fitting to what they love and who they are as a couple.
Mimi and Jonas have such a sweet love. I just adore how they fell together and how natural they were.
I wanted to make sure that the images reflected how they look everyday, just a little elevated.
Mimi is wearing a dress from DÔEN that she thought she might get married in but decided to use for this shoot instead. She wore her hair down and then in two braids. When I saw the tiny kukui nut flowers in bloom, I couldn’t help but place them in her hair.
I wanted our time to feel fun and casual, so we just hung out, went on an adventure, and stopped at little special spots. We made sure to take a dip in the end, and I got some cute little candids.
